Hematoid Quartz is, as the name suggests, a combination of Quartz and Hematite, i.e. a quartz with inclusions of iron that form a beautiful internal pattern in fine red/brown colors. The name of the stone comes from the Greek word Hemo which means blood and refers to the color of the crystal. It is found in several places around the world and is the basis for other stones such as Fire Quartz and Golden Healer.
It is not documented when Hematoid Quartz was first discovered, but it has been traced back several centuries where it has been used in several cultures and for various purposes. The stone has been used by Shamans and healers throughout history and is still used today for its healing properties it is believed to have.
