Resin Incense

Incense resins are natural substances such as frankincense, copal, myrrh, etc. that are harvested from trees. The resin is usually extracted from living trees by "tapping". This is done in a sustainable way so that the tree continues to thrive. Fresh resins are often fragrant, although some resins do not give off much scent until they have been burned.

The best way to burn incense resins is to place them on a hot piece of coal. Usually only a few pieces are needed. Putting too much on top can suffocate the coal slices. Let the slices come to temperature for 5 minutes before adding the resin on top.
