Dolomite was first documented in the late 18th century by the geologist Déodat de Dolomieu, after whom the stone was also named. The discovery was first made in Italy, the Dolomites, but has since been found in several places.
The main component of the stone is Dolomite but can also contain traces of other minerals, this affects the appearance of the stone and it can therefore occur in several different colors, mainly in earthy colors and often has a uniquely beautiful pattern in the form of stripes. Over the centuries, the stone has been used for several different purposes, both for practical needs as a building material and for metaphysical properties.
