History & Facts
esuvianite, also known as Idokras, consists of aluminum, calcium, magnesium, silicate minerals that crystallize together in several previous and different forms. It is a unique crystal that is very precious and occurs in several different colors and shades. It was first discovered by the German geologist Abraham Gottlob Werner in 1795 in Mount Vesuvius in Naples, Italy. The stone was named after the place where it was found, but was then called several different names all over Europe, which created confusion in the market and among geologists. Common then became the official names Vesuvianite and Idokras by which the stone is still known today. Vesuvianite has several localities and can be found worldwide.
