History & Facts

Lemon Magnesite, also called Citron Magnesite and Citron Chrysoprase, is a beautiful, rare stone with a yellow/green exterior in fine pastel shades. The stone is a Magnesite that has taken on the beautiful tone with the help of a nickel compound, this process has occurred during growth naturally. Although the stone is a Magnesite, it is often called Citron Chrysoprase on the market, which can be misleading and confusing for the customer. Since both stones can contain similar nickel compounds, it has often been mistaken for Chrysoprase. It can also be found at the same sites as Chrysoprase, which has led to confusion.

The most common site for the stone is in Western Australia. It has also been found in smaller finds at other geological sites and its access is therefore limited. The stone's first discovery is not documented, but it first came onto the market in the 1990s and has remained rare since then. This has made the stone sought after by rock collectors and geologists.
