History & Facts
Agate is a gemstone closely related to Onyx and Chalcedony. Chalcedony is one of the substances that Agate is made up of together with quartz and other minerals. Agate is a compact stone, but despite that, it is not that hard, it is formed of lamellae/discs, which creates layers and stripes in the stone. These stripes are typical of Agate and often what helps to identify the stone.
Silk's Agate is often associated with Onyx, Red Ribbon Agate or Carnelian which are closely related to this crystal. The differences are minimal with only a few minerals varying, but can be made out by a trained eye. The colors in Silkes Agate usually have darker tones in red and brown, unlike the others, which often have lighter shades of orange and red. Silkes Agate is often sold in a mixed combination with other agates due to its closely related appearance and content.
*Stones are a natural material and can therefore vary in shape, shade and clarity. Natural cracks and irregularities may also occur. Please note that the photo is a product pictuor and that the stones vary.
