Libethenite is a mineral with a history dating back to 1823. Its first documented discovery was made in Slovakia, in the Podlipa copper mine in the town of Ľubietová, which the mineral is also named after.

Libethenite is a copper phosphate hydroxide, which is critical to its appearance. The high copper content gives the mineral its beautiful, dark shades of green, almost black, and forms beautiful, sparkling crystal formations appreciated by scientists, collectors, and geologists.
