Jasper Starburst, also called Star Jasper and Spider Jasper, is a stone with a unique appearance that is named after its beautiful pattern. It has a darker earthy tone in red/brown colors with a naturally created star-like pattern in lighter shades. These patterns are formed during the stone's multi-year growth with the help of slowly cooling magma.
Although the stone is named Jasper and sold under this category, Jasper Starburst is basically a type of fine-grained Rhyolite. The stone is mined mainly in Mexico, but since it is closely related to Rhyolite, it is also found in mines around the world with Rhyolite, but only in smaller quantities.
Thanks to Jasper Starburst's eye-catching appearance and its hardness that makes it easy to shape, it is popular in jewelry form and also as an ornament in the home.
