Aegirin, also called Akmite, is a beautiful dark stone that was first documented in the early 19th century in Norway and is named after the Norwegian mythological sea god Ägir because it was found next to the sea, but also from the Greek word "akme" which translates to point as the stone naturally forms in point/needle-like shapes. Since its first discovery, the stone has been found in several locations and countries, such as Russia, Canada, Greenland, Tanzania and South Africa
Aegirin has a darker tone where the color shades can vary between green, brown, red and black. At first glance, the stone appears completely black but in certain lights can appear in other shades.
