History & Facts

Blue lace agate is also called blue Spetsagat and is a rarer variant of blue Chalcedony, they are so similar that many may have difficulty distinguishing them. The crystal is characterized by its typical agate stripes and soft blue natural color.

Blue lace Agate has limited localities and is mostly found in South Africa and Namibia. It was first discovered in Namibia by Willy Preiss who then handed over the mining of the crystal to George Swanson. George claimed for a long time that he was the one who discovered the mine because he worked hard to make it successful and increased sales of the stone.
