History & Facts
Yooperlite is a relatively new stone to the Swedish and Nordic range. Although it may first appear simple and grey to the naked eye, it has an exciting interior. It can illuminate the fluorescent sodalite inclusions in these syenite stones under UV lighting, which can be experienced as an inner glow that bursts through the stone. It is precisely because of this fantastic property that the stone is also called Glowing stone.
Yooperlite is mainly found on beaches in northern Michigan, but smaller finds have also been found in Madagascar. It is named after the inhabitants "Yoopers" and the region where it was first found in 2017, the discoverer was geologist Erik Rintamaki and the stone quickly became known worldwide among stone collectors.
