Prasiolite is a beautiful crystal that belongs to the quartz family and has green tones that can vary from transparent stone to darker, fuller green. It belongs to the quartz family and is also called green Amethyst because it is originally an Amethyst that has been affected by heat and then the green tone has emerged. It is a very rare and unique stone that is sought after on the market and therefore has a higher value, especially the natural Prasiolite. When an Amethyst is heated, the color is affected and the stone is transformed into a Citrine with sun-yellow tones. If the stone is heated further, it goes to a stage and gets green shades and then forms the stone Prasiolite. Just like Citrine, Prasiolite can be created both naturally by the earth's own forces, although it is often produced using heat treatment. Natural Prasiolite often has a lighter tone and is very transparent, unlike the burned Prasiolite, which often gets stronger and fuller green shades.
Prasiolite was first documented in the 19th century and was discovered in Poland. The first find of the stone was a naturally occurring Prasiolite and it took about 150 years before gemologists learned the heat treatment required to produce the stone on their own.
