Fire Quartz is a beautiful stone with fiery colors in orange, yellow and red tones. The stone is basically a variant of Hematoid Quartz with a similar mineral combination as Golden Healer where they both have a higher content of Limonite which gives the stones a warmer tone. The classic Hematoid Quartz is often referred to as Fire Quartz as the difference between the two crystals is marginal in terms of minerals, however the difference can often be seen with the naked eye as Fire Quartz has a more yellow and golden tone while Hematoid Quartz has more red and brown shades. Fire Quartz can only be formed in places with an extra high content of iron oxide which affects its appearance and pattern.
Hematoid Quartz is a quartz with inclusions of iron which form a beautiful internal pattern in fine red/brown colors. The name of the stone comes from the Greek word Hemo which means blood and refers to the color of the crystal. It is found in many places around the world and is the basis for many other stones such as Fire Quartz and Golden Healer.
It is not documented when Hematoid Quartz was first discovered, but it has been traced back several centuries where it has been used in several cultures and for various purposes. The stone has been used by Shamans and healers throughout history and is still used today for its healing properties it is believed to carry.
