History & Facts
Chinese writing stone gets its name from its appearance with the beautiful, natural patterns that are reminiscent of the ancient Chinese script. The stone has a dark base of mainly black Limestone with elements of white Calcite and Feldspar that form the beautiful patterns in the stone. The name is somewhat misleading when it comes to the origin of the stone, as its main sources are in Japan, the USA and Australia. The stone is relatively rare on the market and its history is still partly unknown, but it was first documented in the 1970s in Auburn, California.
The Chinese writing stone is only formed in a few geological locations where the different minerals are combined under high pressure and during a long process. Millions of years later, the stone takes its shape and the beautiful patterns emerge.
The stone has been used in different ways in different cultures. In Japan, it is mainly used for the wisdom and message that the patterns in the stone are said to symbolize, while in China it has been used for crystal healing.
*Stones are a natural material and can therefore vary in shape, shade and clarity. Natural cracks and irregularities may occur. Please note that the image is a product image and that the stones vary.
