Sweetgrass and Cedar are two of the most important plants used by native humans along with Sage and Tobacco. Sweetgrass is the mother earth's sacred hair, usually braided into three strands. When dried, the braid is burned at the beginning of a prayer or ceremony for dirt and purification of the spirit. Cedar, a resinous aromatic tree, is also used to cleanse rituals and heal rituals. Native peoples of North America burn cedar while praying and its smoke is said to attract the good spirits and eliminate negative energies. The vanilla-like scent of Sweetgrass combines in these sticks with the sweet herbal scent of Cedar to protect, clean and to give positivity.
