Himalayan salt is found at the foothills of the Himalaya-Khewra mine in Pakistan, the salt was formed 200 million years ago when sea water at the foothills of the Himalayas crystallized into salt as a result of evaporation. This ancient lake bed under the Himalayan range, from which the salt was once extracted by magma (lava) (from which the salt was once extracted).
The lava acts as a natural barrier that prevented toxins and air pollutants from reaching the salt. Due to this reason, this salt has remained free from impurities and pure all these years.
