Bixbyite is a manganese iron oxide mineral that forms interestingly shaped, euhedral isometric crystals, it is found in a few unique places in the world and has a Mohs hardness of 6.0-6.5. The crystal is metallic dark black in color. Bixbyite should not be confused with Bixbite, a rare red beryl.
